Vaccine cards are no longer being issued, so what is the alternative?

Upon getting your COVID-19 vaccination, you are now no longer issued a vaccine card. This has changed in the last few weeks, whereby you are now sent a letter with your vaccine details in the post 5 days later.

As we are now well into the 16 week grace period before vaccines become a condition of deployment in care homes that are regulated by the CQC and have service users aged 65+, ensuring frontline staff are vaccinated and you hold proof is very important so that the deadlines can be met.

Should you want details of the vaccination quicker than the 5 days it takes to receive the letter, we are all now able to access our medical records using the NHS App of which will contain all the details of your vaccination.

The NHS App that holds this information is different to the NHS COVID-19 Track and Trace App.

The NHS App provides a simple and secure way for people to access a range of NHS services on their smartphone or tablet. The NHS App lets you share your COVID-19 status, order repeat prescriptions and a range of NHS services.

The NHS COVID-19 app is the fastest way to see if you’re at risk from coronavirus and is available to download in England and Wales. The NHS COVID-19 app is a contact tracing app, which also lets you check in to places like bars and restaurants. The faster you know, the quicker you can alert and protect your loved ones and community, helping to stop the spread of coronavirus.

With there being only 5 weeks before staff who work in health and social care have to have had their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to ensure they can meet the deadline of being fully vaccinated by 11th November, we would recommend you sharing this information with your teams so they are able to update you quickly once they’ve been vaccinated.
