CQC have released their most recent update on their regulatory approach that considers the current situation including the easing of restrictions across the country from 1st February 2022.
“Throughout the pandemic, we have kept our regulatory approach under review. This is in recognition of the changing pressures health and social care services find themselves working under. Our priority has always been to support services to ensure people receive safe care. We want to ensure our approach is appropriate and proportionate.” – CQC
The updated approach outlines that CQC will be inspecting:
• Services where there is evidence that people are at risk of harm
• Services where they can provide support to increase capacity
• Services where they’ve identified good practice so that this can be shared to drive improvement
What are CQC’s goals within the updated regulatory approach?
• They will complete 1,000 infection prevention and control (IPC) inspections in adult social care
• They will provide rapid responses to requests to set up new designated settings
• They will carry out activities to rate adult social care services that are registered and not yet rated
• They will carry out inspections of adult social care providers currently rated as Requires Improvement, to identify where improvement has taken place and re-rate where possible
It is important that as an organisation, you make sure that your teams understand the updated regulatory approach, as CQC inspections for the above areas are to be undertaken imminently following the easing of restrictions across the country from 1st February 2022.
